APTE Philosophy APTE’s guiding principle is the belief that higher thinking skills are built on a solid foundation of visual learning. Before a child can speak, read or think, she looks and recognizes. Visual learning is the most basic building block in the development of cognition. Based on research that demonstrates most people are predominantly visual learners, APTE programs help children learn to read and write using digital imagery (photography and video) as well as traditional printed methods. We all learn best when the content is relevant to our own lives. At APTE an integral part of all our literacy products is the belief that a student’s own experience is a legitimate source of knowledge. With APTE photo products, students combine their own words and pictures to personalize learning. APTE photo programs reward students for expressing their own authentic life experiences. In today’s world, children come to school with acute visual intelligence having honed their skills with hours of TV watching. APTE products help students use their visual skills to become motivated readers and writers. |
